Bifocal Height (see graphic below) – The bifocal height for progressive lenses is the vertical distance from the center of your pupil to the bottom of the eyeglass frame. Here are simple instructions to determine your bifocal height for progressive lenses:

  1. Put on your current progressive lens eyeglasses as you would normally wear them and sit "straight and proud" in a chair.
  2. Have another person come up to you at your eye level, with a Non Permanent, thin tip marker in hand. IMPORTANT – The friend should come to you and adjust to your eye level as you sit in the chair.
  3. The friend will place a small dot in the center of your pupil on both lenses (remember to use Non Permanent, thin tip marker).
  4. Measure the vertical distance in millimeters from the black dot to the bottom of the frame. If your friend is unsure of their dots, simply wipe them off and do over.  Some people's pupils are not exactly the same height.  If your dots are at slightly different levels, use the lower of the two dots.  If the dots are level or very close to level, your friend did a good job and you are done.  Be sure to use millimeters for your measurement and write your B measurement on Part 3 the orderform.

bifocal height for progressive (no line bifocal)

An alternative to the above exercise is to mail us a current or old pair of progressive (no line bifocal) eyeglasses that you have worn and were happy with.  If you do this, our lab will match your current bifocal height for your new safety eyeglasses.

We strongly recommend you mail us an old pair of your progressive eyeglasses to ensure greatest accuracy of your order.

Simply mail your progressive lens eyeglasses or a spare pair you have, to SafeVision, LLC, 114 E. Lockwood Ave., Ste. B, Webster Groves, MO 63119. Place your eyeglasses within an eyeglass case, and place it in a small, sturdy shipping box. Wrap the eyeglass case with bubble wrap or similar protective materials.  You can then mail us the glasses with your orderform.
